Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Statement and Plan

The Central Louisiana Technical Community College Library is committed to supporting a diverse and inclusive environment for students, staff, and faculty. The Library encourages, supports, and celebrates people of all races and places of origin, people with disabilities, people of diverse religious beliefs, sexualities and gender identities, and the most vulnerable in our communities. 

As the heart of CLTCC's academic community, the CLTCC Library celebrates the diversity of our students, faculty, and staff. Library staff members are empowered to promote diversity, equity, and inclusion through our library services, collections, and programming.

We are dedicated to providing an environment where everyone feels welcomed, valued, and respected. 

We do this by: 

  • Developing diversity awareness and sensitivity among library employees
  • Promoting diversity values in our services to users
  • Creating a welcoming and inclusive environment in our virtual and physical locations

FOCUS AREA 1: INCREASING DIVERSITY AWARENESS AND SENSITIVITY AMONG LIBRARY EMPLOYEES

  • Goal 1: Host workshops and events to build a culture of diversity.
  • Goal 2: Foster organizational support and commitment to diversity and inclusive excellence.
  • Goal 3: Establish a formal structure to promote diversity and inclusive excellence.

FOCUS AREA 2: PROMOTING DIVERSITY VALUES IN OUR SERVICES TO USERS

  • Highlight and develop the diversity of our collections and increase the discoverability of diversity resources.
  • Ensure that library communications reflect our commitment to diversity.
  • Demonstrate our commitment to diversity through outreach and programming.

FOCUS AREA 3: PROMOTING DIVERSITY VALUES IN OUR SERVICES TO USERS

  • Ensure that our virtual and physical locations are welcoming to everyone.
  • Ensure that our virtual and physical locations are easily accessible and accommodating.
