Pharmacy Technician as a Profession

A Pharmacy Technician is a healthcare worker who performs pharmacy related functions, generally working under the direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist or healthcare provider. Pharmacy technicians work in a variety of locations, such as retail spaces and hospital pharmacies. They also work in long-term care facilities, pharmaceutical manufacturing plants, and insurance companies. 

Duties include:

  • dispensing drugs and other medical devices
  • educating patience on the use of medications/devices
  • administrative duties in medical settings
