Self-Care Month began on June 24 and ends on International Self-Care Day on July 24. This date was chosen to symbolize that self-care is an ongoing practice that can and should be incorporated into our daily lives, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
The World Health Organization (WHO) defines self-care as "individuals, families, and communities' promoting and maintaining their own health, preventing disease, and coping with illness and disability, with or without the support of a health worker."
Why is self-care important?
