This guide tells you about the CLTCC Library and shows you how to access the electronic resources.

About the Library

The Central Louisiana Technical Community College Library offers a wide range of resources for students, faculty, and staff. The CLTCC Library is committed to offering excellent services while adhering to Central Louisiana Technical Community College's overall mission.

With computers for student use, high-speed internet access, wireless network, digital scanning, and free printing for assignments, the library serves as study, printing, and research hubs for students. In addition to individual PCs, the CLTCC Library features an extensive online collection of e-books and e-journals. The CLTCC Library is also part of the LOUIS consortium, giving CLTCC students, faculty, and staff access to a wide variety of electronic resources.

Library users have 24-hour online access to:

  • Over 120 databases
  • Over 71,000 full-text electronic journals
  • Over 32,700 e-books
  • Collection of digital images and maps

The Central Louisiana Technical Community College Library exists to support the mission, vision, strategic plan, and learning outcomes of Central Louisiana Technical Community College. Our staff, collection, e-resources, and services exist to support academic excellence, intellectual curiosity, social awareness, and workforce development. To that end, the library endeavors to educate students to recognize their information needs, and then, locate, evaluate, and use the information they've gathered both ethically and effectively.

Library Goals and Objectives

Goal 1: Ensure that Library resources reflect and enhance academic excellence at CLTCC. 

  • Objective 1.1: Collaborate with stakeholders to provide access to a broad range of electronic resources. 

  • Objective 1.2: Ensure inclusiveness by improving Library services to remote and online students, first generation students, and at-risk students. 

Assessment Measure: The Library will survey user satisfaction levels with services and resources. The Library will work with Institutional Effectiveness to conduct the survey.  

Intended Results: Results of the survey will provide valuable feedback on the quality of services and resources provided by the Library to the CLTCC community.  

 

Goal 2: Establish Library services that enable CLTCC students to make connections within and beyond the College. 

  • Objective 2.1: Provide CLTCC’s social media followers with knowledge and skills for evaluating information found and shared online. 

  • Objective 2.2: Develop programs that enhance and encourage intellectual curiosity. 

Assessment Measurement: Each month, the Library will post either original content or share reputable content on the topic of misinformation and/or evaluating sources. 

Intended Results: To raise awareness about the need to critically evaluate information before sharing online and to use information in an ethical manner. 

  

Goal 3: Increase the knowledge and skills of Library staff. 

  • Objective 3.1: Take advantage of professional development opportunities provided by CLTCC, LCTCS, LOUIS, ALA, and other organizations. 

  • Objective 3.2: Actively seek out opportunities to participate in professional organizations through presentations. 

Assessment Measurement: Librarians will submit end of month reports documenting all professional development activities. 

Intended Results: Librarians will stay abreast of current trends in librarianship.

Reference Services

The Central Louisiana Technical Community College Library provides many of its resources electronically. This means that you have 24/7 access to the library's resources via any internet connected device. However, the library does offer in-person services such as library instruction and research assistance. Librarians are available during normal business hours:

Mondays through Fridays

  • 8:00 am - 1:00 pm
  • 1:30 pm - 4:15 pm

Saturdays through Sundays

  • Closed

  • Closed

Computer labs follow CLTCC hours. If the College/Campus is closed, the computer lab is closed.
